Objectifs pédagogiques

This course aims to provide students with key fundamentals concepts of the sustainable development and allow them to raise awareness about the main actual issues. From premises of the concept in economics thoughts with "Meadows report" to its consensual definition in "Our common future", and to its widely admitted need to be considered as essential now, the paradigm has to be understood and seen on its multiple sides.

Skills to be acquired:
  • Using broad and in-depth knowledge of the environment and social issues on the planet in order to enlighten decision making
  • Ability identify and define general interest issues and to draw attention to them in a professional context

Contenu de la formation

  • Historical facts et agreements related to the construction of the concept including United Nations organisations, world summits, European union, Non-governmental organisations
  • Global and local environmental phenomenon: Climate change, natural resources depletion, biodiversity loss, water and air pollutions, chemicals...
  • Social and cultural issues : wealth distribution and inequality, access to health and education, gender issues, child work...
  • The 17 Sustainable development Goals (SDGs)
