Principles of scientific writing and presentations are taught first and evaluated then including an oral presentation by the student and a short document to write on a precise matter in the area of computer networks and IoT systems.
Topics : - Evolution of technical-scientific writing and communication. Historical examples
- General topics on scientific technical English
- Writing a scientific paper (language; choice of the title; introduction; acknowledgements; main body; conclusions; bibliographic references; appendices; notes)
- Result visualization: tables and figures
- From the initial to the final draft (writing the first draft; reviewing the contents; reviewing the language; preparing the highlights of a paper, dealing with Referees/Supervisor comments and objections, interaction with Editor)
- Preparing and organizing a PhD Thesis. The bibliographic research. Ethics and plagiarism
- Refereeing scientific papers
- Planning an oral presentation: keeping an audience interested in your results
- Preparing and writing slides and posters
