Objectifs pédagogiques

The course provides students with the knowledge of the key global players, individual or collective, that are central to an understanding of globalization processes. The course approach will more specifically cast light on economic actors with a focus on their business and organizational features.

  • Transnational economic institutions: the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank
  • Economic unions and agreements: EU, NAFTA, MERCOSUR, ASEAN, SAFTA
  • Emerging global actors: the BRICS
  • Globalized financial organizations
  • Managing across borders - the transnational solution
  • Internationalization processes and entry patterns into international competition
  • Forgotten organizational actors: How pirates, mafias and other illegitimate firms shape economic systems and competition
  • New actors: NGOs, Social firms and social entrepreneurs
